Elements of a Standard Piano Lesson

  • Warm-up exercises: note-reading flashcards, major scales, minor scales, modes, cadences, technical exercises, creative exercises
  • Writing music: hand-written and printed via notation software
  • Discussion of solo repertoire, including pertinent historical and theoretical concepts
  • Performance of solo repertoire
  • Development of practice techniques
  • Critical listening
  • Assignments, including daily targeted practice based on lesson commentary

Scheduling, Rescheduling and Cancellation Policies

  • Scheduling: For your convenience, all scheduling is completed online.
  • Rescheduling: Students themselves may reschedule a lesson online up to 24 hours in advance. If you need to reschedule a lesson less than 24 hours beforehand, please contact the teacher directly. The rescheduled lesson time must fall within one week of the absence or will otherwise be considered a non-refundable cancellation. Any no-shows will be considered non-refundable cancellations.
  • Cancellations: Students themselves may cancel a lesson online up to 24 hours in advance. If you need to cancel less than 24 hours beforehand, please contact the teacher directly. Student cancellations cannot be refunded. Teacher cancellations will be fully refunded.
  • Extenuating circumstances may be discussed in person and addressed on an individual basis.
