What is Engraving?
Field Lily Music is pleased to support composers by offering engraving services. Engraving, in its most modern sense, is the process of typesetting a musical score. Just as a writer needs a word processor to print and reproduce text, so does a composer need a music notation software to print and reproduce sheet music.
Why Hire an Engraver?
Hand-writing your compositions is a great way let the creative ideas flow quickly from your mind to the page before you forget them, but they are not always the most clean or easily read. That’s where engraving can save the day. On the image below, scroll back and forth between the excerpt of the hand-written score and Field Lily Music’s engraved version of it to see the difference for yourself!

While you can opt to engrave your own music, this highly technical process can detract from the precious time that you might otherwise spend on what you really love: the art of crafting the music itself. So, if you want to maximize your composing time and still have a professionally engraved, visually gorgeous product, we would love to chat with you!
